If you do not want to spend a fortune on cleaning and maintaining your area rug it is important that you know how to do it yourself. For owners of expensive area rugs, stains from spills are the worst nightmare and you need to know exactly how to deal with a stain when it occurs. If not, you might end up with a rug full of stains from various causes.

It’s important to prevent accidents from even happening. Don’t allow food and drinks around the area rug. This will save you a lot of work but if accidents happen you will need to be able to fix them quickly.

It’s important to clean your rug on a regular basis, such as once a month. This helps to release the dirt and allergens that are trapped in the fiber that may be released when someone steps on it.

If you have the misfortune of having a spill happen on your area rug, the first thing to do is blot the spill. You can do this using a cloth or a paper towel. You should also add a little water to the spill to make it easier to blot and loosen it from the material of your area rug. Then clean the area of the spill using a solvent or detergent meant for use with rugs. Finally, make sure you dry off the spot completely, as leaving your area rug damp might result in fungus or mold growing on it.

Garage Rubber Flooring

Posted by Admin | Flooring | Wednesday 15 April 2009 4:03 pm

If you are considering remodeling you garage you might  consider choosing a rubber flooring for your garage. This  is an inexpensive option for general purpose flooring:  most common uses include parking vehicles on the  rubber flooring, converting the garage space into a play  area or into a workout room.

Parking your car on a recycled rubber matting is the  least common use for this product because of two major  inconveniences: recycled rubber tire products have very  little resistance to petroleum products so an oil leak could  seriously damage the floor; the melting point of this type  of flooring is relatively low, in extreme circumstances the  heat from the tires can be sufficient to melt the tires into  the mat.

If planning to remodel for your garage and you  also have changing the flooring in mind, it is important to  know the primary function that you need your floor to  fulfill. If you are going to convert your garage into a dog- house, the rubber flooring would provide insulation  against extreme temperatures of the cement as well as an  extra cushioning. Also you must consider the ease of  maintenance for this type of flooring.  For a home theater,  a rubber flooring is desired to reduce the noise  transmission.
