Tips On Making New Table Top Looks

Posted by Jennifer Taylor | Interior Design | Thursday 25 February 2010 8:59 am

Almost all old tables are worn out, particularly the table top. Other people tend to purchase new tables to replace the old ones, however, there are also people who redesign their old table top and find them very appealing. There are businesses that offer services on renovating kitchen area. You can ask them some few things on reconstructing your kitchen and also recreating a new look for your kitchen furniture.

Table tops can be created from hardwood, stainless steel, glass, or granite materials. Use the material that fits with the rest of your kitchen surfaces. Table tops can also come in different forms. Conventional shapes are rectangular, round, or oval table tops. There are no pointed corners in round and oval shapes that can harm you and your kids. Adding space for additional person is easier in round and oval table tops.

You can also make a tile table top. Set the tiles on the table top and cut the excess parts. Smooth the rough edge with tile file. With ceramic adhesives at the back, stick the tiles on the table top. Apply grout on the tiles and into the gaps. Let it settle for 2 days before applying a sealer.

Shop On Line For A Fireplace Screens

Posted by Jeff Bridges | Interior Design | Tuesday 16 February 2010 8:34 am

You can shop online for fireplace screens and see all the types and styles offered. There are many shapes and changes from one to another that you can find one to fit your style. The screen will protect your family from ashes in the air and sparks popping out starting a fire.

The screen is an important safe function of the fireplace. In order to get screens that fit properly measure the front and add 3 to 5 inches to the height of the fireplace opening. Add 10 to 12 inches to the width of the opening. You are allowing for covering past the opening, therefore giving you maximum protection. Another reason for buying screens larger than the opening is for stand-alone screens so they will not tip over.

Depending on the style of your fireplace, you can pick a screen that fits “all designs”. These usually stand alone and as one panel although the choices are many for stand-alone screens. Allowing extra inches gives room for folds but using common sense decides what you need to add to get the right size.

Brightening Up Your Home For Sale

Posted by Admin | Interior Design | Sunday 31 January 2010 2:40 pm

If you are selling your home in the fall or winter months, it is important to ensure that your home doesn’t appear to be dull and dim for prospective buyers; whatever season you’re buying a home in, it’s nice to tour a house that doesn’t make you feel like you’re being shown a cave. There are a number of ways that you can add brightness and cheer to all areas of your home with relative ease.

One of the easiest ways to add brightness to your home is with lights. Adding more lamps to your home to brighten up those dark corners can work wonders; extra lamps are particularly nice if they have a tri-light switch in them so that you can add a little or a lot of light to a room. In the kitchen area, you can also add strips of LED lights or under-cabinet lighting underneath the cabinets.

Another way that you can add more light to your home is by lightening up on your window coverings. Consider using a sheer curtain under your heavier drapes so that you can keep the drapes pulled back and let the light cast a glow through the delicate sheers.

Why Get Bay Windows For Your Kitchen

Posted by John Roberts | Interior Design | Saturday 23 January 2010 8:27 am

A kitchen bay window can be useful and it can look very nice in your room. It can bring a dark, unappealing room into light. Such a window is both attractive & practical. There are many advantages to owning a house with a kitchen bay window.

You may think that the addition of a kitchen bay window would make a beautiful accent to your room. However, apart from looks, there are some other reasons that are also important in choosing a bay window for your kitchen.

The looks would definitely be the primary reason for your purchase. There are three aspects to the appearance of kitchen bay windows. First is the window frame. Bay windows can have different frame types. These days they are metal frames when you purchase them in the store, but you can place them in new woodwork to let them become to part of your home. Homeowners with an older house can purchase used lumber to fashion you framework and sill from them instead. Whatever you choose, make sure your window will be framed beautifully.
